Senior Staff Accountant

Our firm is a leading accounting and consulting firm in the Washington Metropolitan area providing tax, accounting and consulting services to businesses and individuals.

As a member of our staff, you will work with other professionals where you will become a part of our team concept in serving and solving the needs of our clients. You will have the opportunity to work on attest, non-attest and income tax engagements thereby obtaining a well rounded professional accounting experience.

As a Senior Accountant, your responsibilities will include:
Working directly with our professional staff, providing mainly tax services but will be involved in audit, accounting and business advisory services for clients, gain experience, supervise team members, and receive training in various areas, including tax related laws pertaining to partnership, s-corporation, corporate returns, exempt organizations, and gift and estate return as well as individual income tax preparation. You will also be involved in tax research and consulting, learn to work in a paperless environment, develop in-depth knowledge of our clients businesses and their industries while working on multiple aspects of each engagement. You will be supported by partners who have a vast level of experience and expertise in both tax and audit.

A professional attitude and appearance, good customer service skills, clear communication skills both verbal and written, and a well mannered demeanor. It is important to be a tactful team player in working with engagement teams to address client needs while ensuring compliance with all industry standards. The candidate needs to have a positive attitude and a willingness to learn and exercise efficient time management.

Requirements for this position:
Ideal candidates must have a minimum of 4 years experience both in public accounting and working directly in tax. In addition, you will need to have worked with individual and business clients at a supervisor level. CPA or eligibility to sit for the CPA exam is required. If the candidate is not eligible to sit for the CPA exam, he or she needs to present a clear path for achieving such goal. Candidates should have strong academic background and proven success. Industry experience in real estate, retail, professional services, government contracting, software and technology, and other commercial clients is a plus. It is required that the candidate have a greater than basic understanding of Microsoft Excel and Word and the ability to apply that understanding.
